Welcome to Bridgerule Primary School

Meteorites Class

Our teachers are Mr Barnes and Mrs Balsdon. We work in small groups with our learning support assistant Mrs Crocker, she really helps us when we are stuck.
Mrs Crocker recently received her NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant award. She has worked really hard over the past 12 months to gain this accreditation.
In Geography we have been looking at the weather conditions around the world. We have been using resources like maps, altlases and globes to help us.
Last term we learnt to play the Ukulele, this term we are learning to play the Recorder, some children are learning to play the Flute.
We play at special assemblies so that our parents/carers can hear how good we all are!

Football Match – report by Tom

On Wednesday afternoon, Bridgerule hosted a strong Putford team to play a friendly game of football. The pitch was extremely dry and the sun was shining, great conditions for a football game. Our captain was Tom.

Putford took the first half kick-off. They had a good run forward but David saved their shot. We had a few good runs and shots, before Putford were tackled by Rupert and Reece. When we all fought for the ball Tom flicked it to Harry and he went on a run and scored a cracking goal. Dylan and Samuel tackled a couple of players. After a few great saves by David and a few more runs on goal the half was over.

The team started the second half on a high being 1-0 up, but it didn’t start well. First, Putford had a shot, which with good teamwork by Bridgerule we were able to clear. Putford intercepted and passed it to their striker who was on his own in space and ran up to the goal despite David’s best efforts to keep us ahead the ball went into the back of the net and the score 1-1. Quickly after, Putford got a corner and managed to tap it in. After the goal scorer had been substituted, David and Rupert swapped positions. Even after our best efforts we could not pull back another goal. We all had a great time, but unfortunately the final score was: Bridgerule 1   Putford  2.

We would like to thank Mrs. Jones for taking the kit home and washing it, to Miss Harris for doing refreshments at half time and to Mr. Averall for coaching us so well.  Mr. Averall commented that ‘it was a very close game which could have gone either way, the sportsmanship and support from both schools.

Reports from some of the children who attended the Residential Trip to the Okehampton Youth Hostel

I have had a brilliant day today. First we travelled to the place that we were staying, we had 10 mins to settle in a little bit or TRY OUT THE BEDS! ha ha ha. Then we travelled in the mini-van to the place that we are doing the activities. Today we did team games. I am looking forward to the night walk.
10.50 Back from the night walk. We started walking after about ¾ of the walk we had to turn on our torches. By the time we got back it was pitch black. Overall it was a brilliant walk.
I am looking forward to the cycling and kayaking tomorrow!

Starting the day we went biking. We had 21 gears, we went over 2 bridges on the way back the men at the quarry blew the side of the quarry. We were about 200 metres away but the ground still shook.
After that we went kayaking. First we played a game called the 'Simpsons', it was very fun, after that we played a game with pegs.
The best part was when Mrs. Linney and Mrs. Crocker fell out of the Canoe!!

We had our faces painted to go to a haunted Castle; it was really scary, at midnight ghosts come out!
Today I did Archery. I was so happy when I got a red target.
